Journeyman Painter

Looking for an experienced Journeyman painter or of similar status.

A Journeyman painter should have at least 6 years of experience in the paint trade industry and is skilled in painting different types of surfaces using a variety of tools and techniques. This is a full-time seasonal position assisting other journeymen and the foreman on sites, with the potential to carry into late fall/winter.

As a Journeyman Painter for Conrad’s Painting, you will apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings, and other structures. You may perform related work as required.

Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.

Duties & Responsibilites

  • Filling nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty plaster
  • Smoothing surfaces, using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool
  • Removing old paint from surfaces using paint remover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting
  • Painting surfaces using brushes, sprayer, or paint rollers
  • Simulating wood grain, marble, brick, tile or other special effects with cloth, brush, or sponge
  • Erecting scaffolding or setting up ladders safely to perform tasks above ground level
  • Drywall repair
  • Operates, cleans, and maintains all painting equipment, including brush, roll, sprayers, etc.
  • Safely stores and labels all materials.
  • Erects scaffolding, rigging, and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.
  • Reads and understands work orders and safety instructions.

Abilities & Expectations

  • Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely
  • Perform heavy physical labor
  • Climb ladders and scaffold (Must not be afraid of heights)
  • Move and utilize up to an extension ladder alone
  • Erect and work on rolling scaffold
  • Carry full 5-gallon containers of paint or equivalent weight
  • Wear & use respirators
  • Bend and reach while preparing and painting surfaces for the entire work shift.
  • Work in inclement weather.


  • Min. of 6 Years of Experience
  • Commercial Painting Experience Preferred (Journeyman skill level)
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation
  • High standard of integrity and professionalism
  • Tools of the Trade
  • Min. Education of High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, or walking.
  • Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
  • Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
